EmForge Project Management

EmForge allows users to create & managed several projects.

View the list of Projects

To View the list of projects click on the "Projects" menu item in main-menu. "Projects" view will be opened with list of projects, exist in the system. From this list you can:
  • go to the project-specific page (by clicking the project link in the list);
  • edit or remove the project (this function is allowed only for Admins) by clicking related button for specified project;
  • add new project (via clicking "Add" button in Actions menu) - this will navigate to "New Project" view (also available only for Admins);

Create New Project

"Create New Project" view allows you to create new project. In the form you need to specify:
  • Name (required field): unique name. This name is used as wiki-page name for project and should be unique in the system;
  • Display name (optional): used to display project name to users. If not specified - Name is used as Display Name;
  • Repository Path (currently not used)

After pressing "Create" you will be navigated to the "Project" page

Project View

Project View collects all information related to specified project.

Every project has a description - a wiki-page with name, specified in "Project Name" then project was created. So, to put the link to the project in any wiki-page you just should place the wiki-link to this name like:

If system will found the project with specified name it will automatically inserts the link to the project into wiki page.

(Note: if you will use CamelCase rule for your project name it's name will be automatically displayed as link to the project then you will place it in wiki page)

Project Page displayed the Description, associated with this project. It is possible to use any operation, allowed with wiki-page: edit, comment, add attachments and so on. For Example EmForge page is a description for EmForge project.

Project Planning

For Project Planning EmForge used Milestones. Milestones, planned for feature you can see on "RoadMap" page - this page contains current "Project Plan" the list of milestones with their descriptions and small "progress-bar", displayed how much processes are closed and still opened for specified milestone. "RoadMap" page allows user to see the short otherview of project plan and current status of milestones.

Clicking on related part in progress-bar will open report with list of opened or closed (depending from that part you clicked) processes for specified milestone.

Create new milestone.

To create new milestone you need to click on "Create New Milestone" button in Actions menu - this button is available only for Project Managers or Site Admins. In "New Milestone" form you can specify milestone data:
  • Name - as as for project - it should be unique name, used for identifying milestone. This name will be used for creation new wiki-page to store milestone description
  • DisplayName - if not specified - used Name
  • Planned end Time/Date - contains date then it is planned to finish milestone

After creation of milestone you will be navigated to milestone view

Milestone view

Milestone view is a similar to Project view. It is displayed the wiki-page, associated with milestone. Same as for project, you can use milestone name to point milestone from any wikipage, like:

On Milestone View you can do standard wiki-actions like edit/attach new file. You can also edit milesotne settings (available only for Project Managers or Admins)

Then workingon milestone is finished (for example all processes related to the milestone are closed) - you can close milestone. In this case milestone become Version

Versions

Versions - is a closed milestones - it is a history of project. List of Versions is available via "History" link in Actions Menu on Project Page. Version Page are similar to Milestone

Project Settings

From Project View Project Manager or Admin can edit Project Settings. Project Settings Form are the same is used in "New Project"

Project Roles.

Project Manager or Admin may assign different roles for users in specified project
